Once we had developed Robot Tracks, it was natural that we leverage the same design to create our Brick Tracks, to allow all-new creations from LEGO® bricks and magnetic tiles. Our Brick Tracks are a natural extension of our philosophy that true genius lies in making connections. But we noticed that those toys did not play nicely with each other, so we set about changing that. With our Robot Tracks, you spend more time on what matters - teamwork, creative problem solving, and self-discovery.Įver since we opened Genius Gems, we’ve noticed that the most creative kids (and adults!) are the ones who are interested in combining different things together: like magnetic tiles and LEGO® bricks. Whether you are an educator, a parent or grandparent, our robot tracks let you and your loved ones get the most out of your investment. These tracks are perfect for anyone lucky enough to have Ozobots in their school or home. So we decided we would make them available to everyone by re-designing them for mass production and launching a Kickstarter campaign. Over the past year and a half, we’ve had thousands of children and adults use these tracks at Genius Gems in our classes, camps and field trips, and everyone loves them! Parents, grandparents and educators have all asked to buy these tracks. Each insert has a line or code that the Ozobot can read. They fired up our 3D printers, and eventually, we created these durable plastic inserts that fit into Playmags® magnetic tiles. So we asked some engineers on our staff if they could help. And we saw kids and parents struggling with how to draw the lines and codes exactly right. We love that it teaches coding principles without screens.īut within the first year of launching Genius Gems, we had already spent a thousand dollars on markers and paper, all of which was ending up in landfills. Founder Jennifer Romanoff, Ed.M., was watching her husband and their two boys building with magnetic tiles. They follow lines and codes that you can draw on paper using magic markers.
